It’s on. Team Freeskier has invaded Copper Mountain, Colorado for the annual Park Ski Test; we’ll be here April 13-16 putting 2015′s best park skis through the wringer. All the while, we’re enjoying some of the antics that go hand in hand with Copper’s Sunsation spring fest, happening now.

Yesterday, we kicked ‘er off by partaking in the wild and wacky Red Bull Slope Soakers event: phenomenal costumes, four ponds complete with rail features, big stunts and even bigger slams. Certainly not a bad way to get back into the #FreeskierFest spirit.

Today, amid some pretty hefty snowfall, the testing process began; our ski testers hit Copper’s park, taking advantage of a smorgasbord of jibs. In the same way that we rate skis at our All-Mountain Ski Test, utilizing our custom web app, testers jump on a new pair of boards, spin a lap or two, and with a good feel for the ski, rate that model on a scale of 1-5, in categories including carving, stability, swing weight, playfulness, versatility and overall stoke. The collective scores and comments serve as the basis for selection of our Editor’s Picks in the annual Buyer’s Guide.

This afternoon: the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest went down in the base area. Like Slope Soakers, it was just another added bonus for us.

In the evening, our crew took over the Woodward at Copper Barn: the ultimate après‎ playground for a rowdy bunch of terrain park enthusiasts. Highlights included trampoline sessions raging for hours, insane roller ski stunts into the foam pit, plus “Ski Test Scott” doing his darnedest to make his way through a pump track on a pair of rollerblades.

Tomorrow, the forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies. With 100+ park skis to test before EOD Wednesday, we’ve got our work cut out for us. Stay tuned for on-hill coverage in the days to come.
