Montero AR
Stöckli
$1,399.00
Stöckli has been building downhill race skis for nearly 90 years, and the Montero AR is a frontside hot rod steeped in that legacy. These monsters are all about power and precision, featuring Stöckli’s Light Core technology along with two sheets of Titanal. One of the attributes celebrated by our testers was the excellent torsional rigidity. It enables the ski to retain all the energy from the turn initiation—which is electrifying! The metal also acts as a dampener, significantly reducing the vibrations from imperfections in the hardpack. When you combine these qualities with an 84-mm waist width, you get increased precision and ultra-fast edge transitions.
The Montero AR is in its happy place when you’re laying down trenches so fast you might spontaneously combust. Stöckli has moved the contact point forward on the ski so it locks in fast, and a mid-to-large turn radius allows for long, sweeping carves. Adaptive edge technology contours the Montero AR’s contact point to make your connection to the snow feel consistent no matter how far you lean into a turn. Stöckli has also added slight tip and tail rocker to aid turn initiation and improve off-piste performance, should you want to take a break from the groomers. Built for speed, precision and energy retention, the Montero AR is bred to feel like an F1 racecar. It would slot perfectly into a West Coast quiver as a dedicated frontside ski to haul on and would thrive in the Midwest or on the East Coast as a daily driver for the firmer conditions.
