Silverton Hosts Film Contest – WIN CASH AND HELI DROPS!
The Beating Film Festival in [http://www.silvertonmountain.com Silverton], Colorado has quickly gained a reputation as a must do on the winter calendar for aspiring filmmakers. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to submit a 5 minute (or shorter) film to the fest.
The Beating was created with the low-budget underdogs in mind, but the sponsors and prizes are totally pro. The Best of Show winner will take home cash and a free heli drop at [http://www.silvertonmountain.com Silverton Mountain]. Other winners will walk away with sweet gear from The North Face, Smith, and K2.
The films will be ranked by a panel of industry big-wigs and based on three primary factors: creativity, entertainment value, and quality. Films that make a lasting impression will be the winners.
The Beating is brought to you by Freeskier Magazine, Snowboard Magazine, K2 Skis, The North Face, DaKine, Backcountry Access, Venture Snowboards, Final Draft editing software, and Silverton Mountain. Get pumped for winter and hook up some local kids in need. A portion of the proceeds are earmarked for the Andy Calloway Scholarship to help raise money for Silverton Mountain’s High School ski program. Andy was a 7th grade snowboarder who loved riding at Silverton Mountain, who died in a tragic accident.
The viewing and judging will be held at the Silverton Mountain Miners Theatre (1069 Greene street, 2nd Floor) on Saturday January 3rd, 2009 at 7 pm. Edited and polished films should be delivered in DVD format by December 18 (don’t forget holiday shipping delays).
