Loveland celebrates 75th anniversary, opens for 2012/13 season
That’s right ladies and gentleman, Loveland Ski Area is officially the second ski area to kick off the 2012/13 season here in North America. Kicking the season off with a bang, Loveland sported short lift lines and 40 skiable acres. We spent our morning spinning laps with the rest of the energetic crowd (thank you Red Bull).
Big props to the Loveland Snowmaking, Operations, and Park crews for putting together a solid five-feature mini-park that boasts two flat/down boxes, a single barrel down rail, tower pole and a mini wall ride. After we had our fill of turns and jibbin’ it was on to the base lodge to finish off the day with some of the best chili around at the Basin Cafeteria. Trust me on this one, you will not be disappointed.
New this year, skiers can look forward to some highly anticipated, soon to be accessible terrain via Loveland’s new cat operation. So if you’re in Colorado, head on up to Loveland and check out all the resort has to offer so far this early in the season. -ZB
