Life’s a beach: Hatterras, NC with POC.

Life’s a beach: Hatterras, NC with POC.

For most of us North American skiers, the season is trickling to an end, regardless of the 100+ inch base some of the bigger mountains here in Colorado are still sportin'. This leaves many of us asking, now what?

Cue the sound of crashing waves and seagulls. Beach season, bring it on.

I've been fortunate to work along side Erin Sullivan and Jarka Duba of POC this season, all the while hearing tales of what was promised to be a most ultimate season ending trip. One short plane ride and a most entertaining 3 hour road trip later, Tucker Perkins and I found ourselves surrounded by POC employees, ski media pimps, base jumpers, and mega talented Olympic athletes in our new home for the week in Hatterras, NC.

I use the term "home" lightly in reference to these behemoth beach dwellings that resemble any normal house, on HGH.

Our days were spent with little structure, and as most would agree, this is the only way to go about doing things whilst submerged in beach culture. The POC crew was kind enough to introduce the crew to the badass world of kite surfing. While I never managed to make it to the bay for an actual test ride, Tucker, Tatsuno and I mastered the trainer kite with the help a couple ice cold BL smoothes (and a twisted tea or two). Good times were had. Big ups to Real Water Sports for hooking up the kite rigs, SUP boards, and good times all around.

Thanks again to Jarka Duba and Erin Sullivan of POC, can't wait till next year!
