Some of skiing’s top athletes ditched their skis and, quite literally, joined the circus for a few days. The United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) teamed up with world-renowned Cirque du Soleil to bring athletes—such as Devin Logan, Aaron Blunk and Hunter Hess—out of their comfort zones and to the stage.
For people who are constantly flipping, corking and rotating, it didn’t take long to catch on.
“Everybody likes to jump and catch some air and get a little bit scared and work through that and conquer it,” explains U.S. Freesking Slopestyle Coach, Skogen Sprang. The athletes learned the basics of acting and dancing, as well as new ways to approach the trampoline. Whether this training will help the athletes during the season is yet to be seen, but it surely served as a fun break for them, nonetheless.
