Sammy Carlson took many a practice lap at X Games Aspen, and GoPro wizard Drew Lederer was following close behind to capture the action. Sammy was an alternate at the event, but got his spot on the start list when Bobby Brown pulled out due to injury. While the contest didn’t necessarily go Sammy’s way, this edit continues to prove that Sammy’s unique take on skiing is really damn fun to watch.

Word is that Sammy has since made his move into the backcountry, where he’s currently stacking shots in hopes of defending his title in ESPN’s Real Ski backcountry video contest. Stay tuned to freeskier.com for more from Sammy this season, including a Q&A dropping this week.
