There are countless awards and accolades for professional skier to chase, but landing a magazine cover has always been—and will continue to be—one of the very greatest prizes. That’s precisely why we decided to have some fun this month with Bobby Brown, who not only earned the cover of our 2017 Resort Guide, but he did so with a photo taken by… himself. That’s right, Brown landed himself a spot on the front page with the ultimate selfie—a GoPro photo captured on the Stubai Glacier in Austria. Fun fact: This is the first time a photograph captured via GoPro HERO4 has graced the cover of a sport-oriented magazine.
How it went down: With the help of Brown’s brother, Peter, and girlfriend, Nicole Gallen, we arranged to hang a print of the 2017 Resort Guide cover on the walls of Bobby’s new home. After getting back from a trip, tired and weary from travel, Brown arrives to a GoPro camera in his face and at first thinks he’s being “iced.” When he realizes what’s actually happening, he totally loses his s#it in the best way possible.
