‘Threading the Needle in the Dolomites’ – Sam Anthamatten, Yann Rausis and Simon Charrière make light work of some of the more technical skiing you’ll ever see

The Italian Dolomites are no joke. Copious amounts of snow and incredible rock outcroppings unite in beautiful harmony to create such a fabled playground of ski mountaineering. But to say that this playground is high stakes would be an understatement. Many of the nooks and cranies buried in those hills will only be skied by a handful of people. Luckily for us, some of those people happen to be Sam Anthamatten, Yann Rausis and Simon Charrière. During their trip to film for Faction’s latest movie, ‘Roots‘, these three mountain marauders strapped on a few GoPro’s and managed to press record while hiking and skiing more than a few spine-tingling lines.

All this footage was meticulously pieced together by Faction’s iconic camera wizard, Etienne Mérel. He’s been more or less responsible for Faction’s recent rise to cinematic stardom, helping direct and compile their recent movies and web projects. This is all to say, it isn’t easy to make nearly 10 minutes of raw POV skiing very entertaining, but Etienne was clearly the person right for the job. I wish your stomach good luck, and enjoy this wild compilation of some of the wildest skiing in the world.
