Arizona is known for many things. Skiing is not one of them. But there are, in fact, mountains with very enjoyable freeride terrain in this state that borders Mexico. Surprisingly great ski terrain might not be the first thing you think of when you think of Arizona, but it’s there. Trust us. Better yet, trust Ed Dujardin, a middle school teacher who recently dropped his rippin’ winter 2024 recap edit.
Dujardin makes a clean turn, especially when compared with the majority of middle school teachers out there. We haven’t done any polling on this, but we’re willing to bet that he’s in the top 1% of teachers that rip. The edit is filmed with a compilation of POV and standard shots, which give us a taste of the great snow and impeccable line selection that defined Dujardin’s 2024 season.
He specified that there are a few clips in here filmed in Silverton, Colorado, but the majority is indeed filmed in the San Fransisco Mountains of Arizona and in the broader surrounding peaks. “It’s pretty cool that Arizona has quality big mountain terrain and a laid-back ski scene,” Dujardin told FREESKIER. “I might be getting older, but it’s not bad for a middle school teacher.” Not bad at all Ed, not bad at all.
