“Return of the Turn” is back with more edge-to-edge carnage in Iceland

Photography by Mike Schirf

Marcus Caston set the internet ablaze last year when he said that “actual skiing” was dying. Trying to diverge from the high-flying trickery of many of the sport’s top athletes today, Caston and his crew have made it their duty to showcase skiing in a way that brings everything back to its roots. Back for more, Caston and filmmaker Tim Jones continue to travel the world in search of the perfect place to lay an edge.

In the first episode of the new season of “Return of the Turn,” Caston teams up with fellow Blizzard skier, Claire Brown, and heads to Iceland for an adventure. Although the snow conditions were less than ideal, skiing in this fashion makes it apparent that, no matter the snow quality, it’s the attitude you have in the mountains that matters most. Now, go ahead and immerse yourself in five minutes of Icelandic corn, technical turns through burly couloirs and a whole lot more. Stay tuned for Episode Two dropping exclusively on freeskier.com next month.
