We all know skiing has changed over the past few decades, and whether it’s changed for better or for worse is up to you to decide. But one thing’s for sure: This video definitely gives weight to the argument that it’s changed for worse. I mean, how frickin’ sweet does it look to shred Mammoth’s backcountry in neon clothes, aggressively pole-plant like it’ll never go out of style and slash through California pow with your best buds? And when was the last time you saw someone having this much fun on skis? And when was the last time you had this much fun on skis?
It’s a truly classic ski video, and it isn’t even all about skiing; OGs Eric Stewart, Jason Moore, Davey McCoy, Ron McCoy, David Barrett, Christian Schneider and Dave Drake are featured ripping dirt bikes, snowmobiles, skateboards and snowboards, too, giving proper substance to the film’s title, Backyards.
They had one hell of a backyard, indeed, and we’re fortunate to have the chance to relive it all—even if it’s through a screen.
