It’s been a number of days since this video surfaced on the web, and we have opted to post it now that we learned the 17-year-old individual who fell from the chair at Ski Santa Fe is expected to make a full recovery. Although a heli-vac was required following the incident, the Sante Fe New Mexican reports the victim did not require surgery and was released from the hospital after a few days of observation. According to the resort’s ski patrol director, the individual fell from the chair while attempting to throw snowballs at his friends in the chair ahead of him.

From TriipyHD on YouTube:

“I was skiing when my friend gets off balance and ends up hanging from the chair. He did not have the security bar down. He hung from about Pole 8 to 21, and at 21 he fell. This was on a lift that averages 37 ft above the ground, but pole 21 was the 3rd highest stretch at about 45 ft high, with 19 being the highest. He suffered from injuries including: concussion, skull fracture, collapsed lung, and a lacerated liver. He had to be helicoptered out to a local hospital.

There have been quite a few questions about where his board went, he unhooked it. (I have no idea how snowboards work, I ski.) He hung with one hand to do this. He did this to gain some sort of grip or something. Obviously that didn’t work.”
