George Rodney makes miraculous save in winning FWT run from Haines, Alaska

Yesterday, the Freeride World Tour stop in Haines, Alaska went off. After days of waiting out the weather, competitors took to the steep, powdery face of “The Venue,” and duked it out for FWT supremacy. In the end, the victor was American George Rodney, who makes one hell of a save during the middle of his run, as he attempts to scrub speed following a cliff drop, and comes dangerously close to tomahawking a long way down.

Somehow, Rodney regains his balance just in time to drop two successive cliff drops, en route to a score of 87.75 and a first place finish. Rodney still leads the FWT rankings heading into the tour’s last event of the year, Xtreme Verbier.
