The 2017 X Games Real Ski street competition just came to a close, with a stacked podium of Magnus Granér in first, Henrik Harlaut in second and LJ Strenio in third. Strenio also took home the coveted “Fan Favorite” award, winning 33.03% of votes. With high energy from start to finish, all of his hits are insane to watch. But, by just viewing the 90-second edit, it can be too easy to ignore the blood, sweat, tears and hours upon hours of work that went into the creation of the video.
Thankfully, Strenio and his crew—filmer Jake Strassman with additional filming by Hennie Van Jaarsveld and Brogen Reed—put together this edit showing every single take that it took to get those final shots. It’s brutal to watch, but doing so allows one to truly appreciate what these skiers do. Congratulations, LJ, for taking home bronze and the Fan Favorite award—both are well deserved. Also take a moment to appreciate the rest of the athletes who, though we don’t have the video proof, surely put in hours of hard work as well.
