This Costa Rican kid wants to ski in the Olympics, and he might just pull it off

Though 20-year-old Andre Moreno Hamm lives in Boulder, Colorado and has skied American slopes since age four, he’s a Costa Rican at heart—much thanks to his Costa Rican mother—who’s gunning hard to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. To promote his Olympic dream, Hamm and filmmaker Luke Fraser put out a short film, found above, in which Hamm explains his plan in Spanish while showing off some smooth moves from his past season in the park.

“My hope is to inspire the youth and athletes in Costa Rica, bring the Costa Rican spirit to a new sport and make my Costa Rican family a little proud for all they have done for me,” he explains.

Only 10 Costa Ricans have participated in the Winter Olympics, making Hamm’s dream a unique one that we can get behind. So, join us in wishing the best of luck to this ripper: Go get ’em, bud—the rings are calling.
