The original birds: Black Crows shares the story of its founders

The mastermind of two former professional skiers, Black Crows—the edgy, Chamonix-based, ski and apparel manufacturer—is currently spreading its wings across the entire industry and the globe. Get to know co-founders Bruno Compagnet and Camille Jaccoux in the short documentary, above, and you’ll understand where the company’s unique aesthetic and function-first approach to design originate.

Founded in 2006, the 11-year-old company is acclaimed for its award-winning skis and singular identity. “From the beginning we really had two objectives,” explains Jaccoux, “The first was to make the best ski for us, and, in parallel, we wanted to create an identity, a story, but there was really no plans.”

Making products that complemented their lives in Chamonix hiking and skiing some of the world’s most demanding lines, Compagnet and Jaccoux started small, yet the company continues to establish itself as a high-profile contender in the ski industry. Be sure to keep an eye on these birds—including its 25 member athlete roster featuring names like Mark Abma, Michelle Parker, Nicolai Schirmer, Nate Wallace, Callum Pettit and Mike Henitiuk—because these Crows sure know how to fly through the mountains.
