“BIRTHRIGHT” – The Wells Brothers do Surrealist Skiing Better Than Anyone

Featured Image: Courtesy of Beau-James Wells

Surrealist freeskiing is a wild, enchanting and growing subgenre of art in our niche culture. As The MET describes on their website, surrealism is a movement that strives to, “release the unbridled imagination of the subconscious.” We have no idea if this is what the Wells brothers have been attempting to do, but it’s certainly what their recent projects have accomplished.

To make something like skiing appear relatable yet foreign, by blending camera work with wild coloring and unique sound design, isn’t easy to do. You’re more likely to end up with a jumbled mess of visually stimulating non-sequiturs than a finished product. But led by Beau-James Wells, this crew has managed to make projects that stand out and leave you wanting more.

With clips collected across the globe from Wyoming to New Zealand, “BIRTHRIGHT” is another addition to this long line of artistic freeski triumphs from the Wells family. Dim the lights and dive into the full eight-minute cut below.
