How you capture skiing can make or break a segment. Film a hit the wrong way and you can easily make it look less drastic than it is. Thankfully the fine folks at Matchstick Productions have had years honing in the art of the Alaskan spine segment. They’ve taken their talents into another realm however, enlisting the esteemed Luke Bredar to help them gather some of the most stunning drone shots we’ve ever seen.
This edit takes us to the Chilkat Range of Haines, Alaska. The mountains here are vertical walls blanketed in thick layers of arctic snow rolling in from the Gulf of Alaska. A phenomenal team made up Caite Zeliff, Colby Stevenson, Hedvid Wessel and Sammy Carlson took on the challenge of taming these heart-pounding lines.
