The competition season is in full swing, and up in the land of maple syrup and Tim Hortons, the young guns are beginning to gather for one of the most important events of the year. The IFSA 4* freeride comp at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is always a heavy hitter. Add into the equation $10,000 and a spot on the Freeride World Tour and it’s almost too much to handle.

Currently scheduled for January 22, 2025, the event is just around the corner. Revelstoke’s North Bowl is the perfect freeride venue, packed with a plethora of features from chutes to cliffs all complete with soft and (mostly) steep landings. It’s as if a skier designed the perfect playground and plopped it on a mountain. As of 1/15/25, the resort has received 621 cm (244 in) on the season, meaning the mountain is skiing excellent.

“We are excited to host this highly anticipated IFSA event at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, offering up a challenging venue for these talented athletes to showcase their skills,” said RMR Events Manager Gautier Hebert. “Our partnership with IFSA aligns with our dedication to fostering the growth of freeride discipline and providing a platform for aspiring athletes to advance their careers.”

Almost every current rider on the FWT Pro circuit has had to pass through the gauntlet of North Bowl at Revelstoke. It’s a breeding ground of sorts that brings out the best in up-and-coming riders. The consistent snow and fantastic terrain play a part, but there’s more to the story. The area is truly an epicenter for the best parts of the freeski community, and this event is a living testimony to exactly that.

“Revelstoke has always had a special place in my heart,” former freeride competitor and Big Sky Ski Patroller Connor Doyle told FREESKIER. “The skiing is outstanding, and the town is filled with great people who love skiing as much as anyone. I was able to compete in the 4* after earning a wildcard in the previous day’s 2* event, so the pressure was low. But I managed to land four 360s and secure third place in one of the best runs I’ve ever had. The support from everyone was what made it special, though. It was an unbelievable experience, and I was able to make memories that I’ll have for the rest of my life.”

If you’re in the area, we can’t recommend going to the event enough. Revelstoke will be hosting spectators at the top of the Ripper Chair so be sure to show up for one of the highlights of the freeride season. But, f you find yourself stuck in the office, check out the full livestream below kicking off on Wednesday, January 22 at 11am MT.

The event will culminate in an award ceremony at 5:00 PM at The Paul Mair Plaza, immediately following the competition. Attendees can celebrate the athletes’ achievements and immerse themselves in the camaraderie that defines the freeride community.
