Kirkwood Resort, located in the Lake Tahoe region of California, is known for its steep, challenging terrain, as well as its phenomenal backcountry options, accessible straight from the resort. Expedition: Kirkwood is a program at the resort that offers everything from avalanche certification courses, women’s programs, snowcat tours, private guides, and specialty ski clinics. In conjunction with Kirkwood, we here at Freeskier have been offering you the chance to win round trip airfare from any major continental U.S. airport into Reno-Tahoe International Airport, as well as lodging, lift tickets, AIARE avalanche certification class, and a stellar day shredding Kirkwood’s famed Cirque terrain (closed to the public and subject to conditions) courtesy of Expedition: Kirkwood. All you have to do is submit photos and words describing the gnarliest, rowdiest, most cheek-puckering terrain you’ve ever skied, to Kirkwood’s Facebook page.

We’ve now hit the home stretch of the contest, and you only have until 11:59 p.m. MT tonight (2/5/2014) to enter. For some last minute inspiration, we’ve rounded up some of the top contenders to win so far:

Example #1: Isaac Freeland

Isaac submitted this photo of him throwing a huge backflip over U.S. 40 in Tahoe.

Description:

“My favorite jump in the Tahoe backcountry. Backflip over highway 40 in Truckee, Ca. Thanks to Mullings for the photo.”

Example #2: Patrick Westfeldt

Patrick Westfeldt shared this awesome composition image of him in Aspen’s Highland Bowl, and is definitely a top contender.

Description:

“This rowdy line is a composition image that my friend and budding super photographer Jesse Hoffman put together. It was just a typical sunny powder day in the highland bowl. The Highland bowl used to be our permanently closed area when I was a child. It doesn’t have the exposure that the Kirkwood Cirque has, but the idea is the same. It is a sacred place. Ski it safely, and have fun. Freeskier RULES.”

Example #3: Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas posted this POV shot of him hitting some cliffs at Alpine Meadows.

Description:

“Got the chance to hit these cliffs under Scott Chair at Alpine Meadows a couple seasons ago. Deep landing; just gotta avoid the sharks!”

Honorable mention: Lauren Kelsch

While Lauren Kelsch didn’t show us how rad she is on the hill, she still made us laugh with this comical photo of her riding a dinosaur.

Description:

“Fun will never go extinct! But dinosaurs did, once upon a time. Until the fateful day, I found myself atop a mountain peak with nothing but a saddle and spurs. Upon the rising sun came the silhouette of a curious creature from the Jurassic Age. After a brief introduction and cup of joe, I boarded my peaceful friend and together we shredded. What would have been otherwise known as woeful day, transformed into pure archaic bliss.”
