In conjunction with Kirkwood, we here at Freeskier have been offering you the chance to win round trip airfare from any major continental U.S. airport into Reno-Tahoe International Airport, as well as lodging, lift tickets, AIARE avalanche certification class, and a stellar day shredding Kirkwood’s famed Cirque terrain (closed to the public and subject to conditions) courtesy of Expedition: Kirkwood. All you have to do is submit photos and words describing the gnarliest, rowdiest, most cheek-puckering terrain you’ve ever skied, to Kirkwood’s Facebook page.

The Highland bowl used to be our permanently closed area when I was a child. It doesn’t have the exposure that the Kirkwood Cirque has, but the idea is the same. It is a sacred place.
