Sugarbush Resort, located in Warren, Vermont, will host the 4th Annual “Fat Ski-A-Thon” from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on March 1, benefitting the High Fives Foundation. Participants will complete as many laps on the Summit Quad lift as possible on pow skis or “fat” skis with a waist of 70 millimeters or more (if possible). Attendants will raise money for each completed lap and gather flat donations with proceeds going to High Fives to support the dreams of mountain action sports athletes recovering from life-altering injuries.
The High Fives Foundation invites all participants and supporters of the event to a special FAT Ski-A-Thon kick-off and pre-registration party on Saturday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Waitsfield, Vermont’s own Localfolk Smoke House. Dine on some awesome Tex-mex, burgers and sandwiches with music from Vermont bluegrass band, The Mad Mountain Scramblers.
Throughout the day of the Fat Ski-A-Thon, event sponsor POC will be on-site at Sugarbush skiing around with a portable hot cocoa backpack fueling and warming the participants racing to raise money. Twenty-five local and national sponsors will contribute an unbelievable assortment of awards and prizing to Ski-A-Thon participants. Also, demo skis from K2 and Volkl will be available at the base of the Summit quad lift.
“VT North Ski Shop is excited to bring the High Fives community together in the Mad River Valley for another successful Ski-A-Thon,” says Jesse Murphy – High Fives Board of Directors Member and VP Sales/Marketing at Vermont North Ski Shops. “Although fat skis make powder skiing easier, the same does not hold true for making as many laps as possible on Mt Ellen. We can’t wait to gather pledges and make it another very successful East Coast event for the Foundation.”
As the High Fives Foundation enters into its sixth year, the community support grows along side High Fives expanded reach in the mountain action sports community. By joining in the 4th Annual FAT Ski-A-Thon, you can empower the Foundation to continue bringing its positive mission to an awesome hometown community. With each successful event on the East Coast, the High Fives Foundation moves even closer to realizing the goal of expanding the its offerings through a future Healing Center in the state of Vermont.
