Copper Mountain delays its Opening Day to Friday, November 13

Although foreseeable temperatures are promising for snowmaking abilities, Copper Mountain announced today that it will be delaying its start to the 2015 season. Originally slated to open on November 6, 2015, the resort will now open on Friday, November 13. Copper’s decision stems from its tradition of opening with top-to-bottom conditions, and due to limited snowmaking capabilities thus far the ski area has decided to push its start date.

“Our ever fickle business partner, Mother Nature, has been reluctant to let go of the fall season this year, “ said Gary Rodgers, President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Resort. “Delaying Opening Day is a hard decision to make, and not one we make lightly. We are eager to welcome our loyal guests back to Copper for the winter season on November 13.”

Press Release:

Copper Mountain takes great pride in providing a quality top to bottom snow product for Opening Day each and every winter season. With this tradition of excellence in mind, Copper has made the difficult decision to delay Opening Day for the 2015/16 winter season from Friday, November 6 to Friday, November 13. Unseasonably warm temperatures have limited snowmaking production, hindering our ability to create a product to our standards for our originally planned opening day.

With a forecast of colder temperatures in the foreseeable future, Copper Mountain’s Resort Leadership is confident the snowmaking team can create a top-notch surface that Copper Loyalists have come to expect for opening on Friday, Nov. 13. Skiing for Opening Day will be on trails Rhapsody and Main Vein via the American Eagle lift. There will be no beginner terrain available on Opening Day.

Guests can follow Copper Mountain on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and at CopperColorado.com for updates on mountain conditions, Opening Day information and more.

Guests are invited to check out what the Woodward Copper Barn is all about at the Woodward Barn Bash on Saturday, November 7. Free intro, drop-in and skate/BMX sessions will be available from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. MST Skate and BMX riders are invited to compete in bowl competitions for prizes such as GoPros, Barn Skate/Bike Passes and more.
