The Boreal Banked Slalom and Brewfest went down last weekend. In honor of celebrating 50 years of business, the resort played host to a costumed ski race to benefit the High Fives Foundation and a bitchin’ party with industry folk and skiers of all kinds. The crew kicked the poor weather conditions to the curb as they enjoyed the weekend. Altogether, the event was an ultra success, raising $5,000 for the High Fives Foundation. Also, it was decided by Boreal that the Banked Slalom and Brewfest will now be an annual event. So, if you didn’t get the chance to attend this year, there’s always next. Press Release provided by Boreal Mountain Resort:

Celebrating 50 years ain’t easy. It has to be big, memorable and most importantly, FUN! Boreal nailed it on all objectives by hosting the first annual Boreal Banked Slalom and Brewfest – a costumed ski race to benefit the High Fives Foundation, a Tahoe-based 501.c.3 non-profit organization that supports the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing inspiration and resources to those who have suffered a life-altering injury.

Legendary shredder Lane Knaack and his park crew hand-built the course with love, sweat and tears stretching from the top of the mountain down through the halfpipe and into the park. Tahoe’s finest skiers and snowboarders showed up to pay homage to home of the original terrain park, Jibasic Park. Notable guests and skiers include High Fives Executive Director Roy Tuscany, Armada Sales Rep Mike LaRoche and Red Bull Athlete Cody LaPlante.

Despite the windy weather, the party raged on with two live bands on the deck overlooking the course. Through the music, beers and skiing, we raised thousands of dollars for charity and have decided it will be an annual event. Big thanks to all of our sponsors for helping make this happen.

Sponsors include: Subaru, Coke, GoPro, Red Bull, Neff, Pistenbully, Spy, Phunkshun wear, Icelantic Skis, Armada Outerwear, Outdoor Tech, and Nixon watches.
