Henrik Harlaut has impressed the world with his spins, slides, and style. He has shown that he is not a film jock, but an excellent competitor. With major wins including the Aspen/Snowmass Open and the Orage European Freeski Open, he has made a serious name for himself in the ski industry. He recently placed 3rd in the New Zealand Open Slopestyle. This newly 18-year-old from Ã…re, Sweden is often known for his switch 1620s and ability to slay urban features, but he is also known for wearing the biggest T-shirts you have ever seen.
Henrik has just recently signed with Simon Dumont’s company, Empire Attire. This is a glove company that is owned and operated by skiers. Henrik has the unique talent and style to compliment the team that features: Simon Dumont, Candide Thovex, Colby West, Jossi Wells, and Peter Olenick. Henrik caught up with Empire’s Jake Largess to speak about the sponsorship and future.
Jake Largess: How do you feel about joining the EMPIRE team?
Henrik Harlaut: I had really good thoughts of Empire since it started, so I’m real stoked to finally be on it!
JL: What are you plans for the upcoming winter?
HH: I’m going to be filming with Level 1 Productions and 4bi9 Media. And Me and Phil Casabon are going to produce our own lil’ ski movie.
JL: What do you think of Candide Thovex as a skier? Did you follow him a lot growing up?
HH: I think he might be the best skier of all time. X Games gold pipe and slope [and big air], he has been creating the illest segments, succeeding with his own event, rippin’ powder like no one else. Yep, I’ve always followed him!
JL: Who’s your favorite athlete outside of skiing?
HH: Lucas Magoon.
JL: Who has the biggest influence on your skiing career?
Mickael Deschenaux, Tanner Hall, Candide Thovex, and Travis Heed.
JL: Three things you have to have when you travel?
HH: Computer, headphones and candy.
JL: Any shout outs?
HH: All my sponsors, and la familia.
