WHISTLER 3D SOLUTIONS RELEASES VIRTUAL SKI TRAIL MAPS

WHISTLER, BC, April 19, 2011 – Whistler 3D Solutions has created an interactive, fun way to explore the two host ski resorts of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics – Whistler Blackcomb and Cypress Mountain. Visitors can now 'virtually' navigate the mountains from the comfort of their living room. By using the Virtual Trail Map, people are able to learn the layout (and names) of lifts, trails, restaurants and much more. The Whistler map also shows the location of most accommodation and important services in the village.
The user interface allows people to quickly and easily move from one item of interest to the next. A search function is also included to help find items known by name, but not location.
The mountains have been mapped in 3D by Google EarthTM and in order to view the Virtual Trail Map, users must download and install the Google EarthTM Plugin.
A modified version of the maps are available for the iPhone®, allowing owners to use the built-in GPS to locate and correctly orientate themselves while on the mountains.
