It’s the most… wonderful time… of the year! We’re not talking about Christmas in April. Well, in a way we are. It’s time for another installment of the greatest talent search in skiing; the famous SuperUnknown competition, brought to you by Level 1 Productions. Each year, the esteemed film crew that makes up Level 1 hosts a global call to action for skiers looking to get their name out there and jumpstart their careers. In 2024, the 21st edition of SuperUnknown is heading to Mammoth, California, for a week of riding one of the most pristine park builds in the world at Mammoth Unbound. The finalists will get to rip around with professional skiers invited from around the world, and at the end of the seven days, a new champion will be named.
We at FREESKIER are ecstatic to be the official media partner for SuperUnknown 21. We’ll be on scene bringing you all the action digitally, all while compiling photos and words to be later presented in our coveted fall “The Annual” print issue.

What is SuperUnknown?
The original video talent search contest and still the biggest and best! Started back in 2004 as a way to give talented skiers a chance to gain exposure, sponsorship, and a shot at filming with Level 1, SuperUnknown™ set out to provide an alternate route to exposure outside of the traditional competition scene.
Over a decade later the players have changed but the game is still the same- each year Level 1 receives nearly one hundred entries from around the globe from the most skilled and talented amateurs hoping to take the coveted title.
