There may not be much snow in Vermont these days, but Killington is still hanging on tight and spinning its Superstar Express Quad until the Green Mountains are entirely green once again.
The resort has three trails open, the most prominent being steep, mogul-filled Superstar (AKA Superstar Glacier), and if all goes according to plan, they’ll keep operating into June. In their words: “For the month of May we plan to operate Fridays 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in addition to Monday, May 29 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. until the snow melts. And if it doesn’t? June.”
Jaded skiers scattered around the globe will scoff at Killington’s white ribbons of snow, as they do towards anything else on the East Coast. But, at the end of the day (and the season), this is what our sport is about: just clicking into a couple of planks and sliding down whatever snow is available. After all, it’s just skiing, right?
