Magic Mountain, a small but mighty ski area in Southern Vermont, will soon see a change in ownership that’s proposed to bring great success.
The mountain was previously owned by Magic Mountain Management (MMM), but a new group has formed under the name of Ski Magic that will be taking over in six to eight weeks. Ski Magic will both own and operate the mountain, unlike MMM, which worked with various outside groups to operate the mountain over the years.
“We discovered Magic with its easy-going, laid-back vibe; uncrowded feel on the slopes; and the welcoming attitude of its skiers which made us feel instantly at home,” says Geoff Hatheway, president of Ski Magic. “But, most importantly, there was the kick-ass ski terrain. We think focusing on what matters, the ski product and the environment to enjoy it together, rather than all the growing high-end distractions away from the sport, will essentially take people back to skiing’s golden era here. And, that is where our future lies.”
Skiers: If you’re looking for somewhere to shred that’s completely authentic and distanced from the typical resort experience, go to Magic and don’t look back. Just make sure to be respectful to the locals there, because it’s near and dear to some seriously proud Vermonters and therefore deserves ample respect.
