Ski patrol is the single most important role at a ski resort and often goes unnoticed by guests—with the exception of those who need a toboggan ride back to the bottom. They are the ones getting up well before dawn, starting their work at the coldest part of the day, putting themselves in the line of fire clearing resort runs of potential hazards like avalanches, cornices and rocks, and opening up the resort for the rest of the skiing public to enjoy—day after day, ski season after ski season.

Globally, February 10 is recognized as International Ski Patrol Day, to give our guardians of the mountains the recognition and gratitude they deserve.

Across the United States, you’ll find the Helly Hansen logo on many resort ski patrol uniforms. The brand’s commitment to developing professional grade apparel for outdoor industry professionals makes it the ideal partner for ski patrol teams.

“At Helly Hansen, we make professional grade gear to help people stay and feel alive in the mountains, and we’re proud to outfit over 55,000 professionals globally, including those at the heart of keeping the mountain safe and open for all – ski patrollers,” says Joumana Løvstad, Chief Marketing Officer at Helly Hansen, in a recent press release. “With ISPD 2025, we celebrate their passion and unwavering dedication, and, alongside our resort partners, we invite mountain-goers around the world to join us in thanking them for all they do to keep the mountain safe for everyone.”

While it’s encouraged to thank a patroller on this International Ski Patrol Day, Helly Hansen invites you to take that handshake a step further. On February 10 only, Helly Hansen will donate five percent of all online sales as well as from select retail stores to various organizations that support ski patrol internationally, including Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS), Canadian Ski Patrol, The Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) and more.

Whether you’re in the market for a new jacket or midlayer, or you simply want to hug your local patroller, join Helly Hansen and the rest of the ski industry this February 10 in thanking ski patrol for everything they do to keep our mountain communities safe.
