Tecnica Blizzard partners with Alaska Rendezvous Heli Guides

Tecnica Blizzard has just signed on to be the exclusive ski and boot supplier for Alaska Rendezvous Heli Guides (ARG). The West Lebanon, New Hampshire based company will be outfitting the ARG guide team with Tecnica boots and Blizzard skis.

“The Alaska Rendezvous Guides are honored to be in collaboration with Tecnica and Blizzard. We feel the caliber of the Tecnica Blizzard products will exceed the current expectations of big mountain skiing,” says ARG co-owner, Alexandra Meiners. “The collections offer the guides the performance they need in the Chugach, but also the comfort for spending long days in the field, utilizing the walk mode for waiting on the glaciers or for the helicopter.”

Providing ARG with the latest technology from Tecnica Blizzard will also help the company tremendously on the research and development side.

“Thanks to our new partnership with ARG, we will have the ultimate R & D testing facility to continue the evolution of our Free Mountain collection of skis and boots,” noted Tecnica Blizzard product marketing manager Jed Duke.

ARG provides guided heli trips from March 8 through April 25, 2014.

Press Release, West Lebanon, New Hampshire, January 23, 2014:

WEST LEBANON, NH. (January 23, 2014) Tecnica Blizzard USA signed a three-year contract with Alaska Rendezvous Heli Guides (ARG) as an official partner. Tecnica Blizzard will be the official supplier of performance skis and boots for the ARG guide team and equipment room.

Founded by the late Theo Meiners in the early 1990’s, ARG is a premiere provider of Alaskan big mountain heli skiing with headquarters in the Chugach Mountains of Alaska. Meiners ran the operation until his unfortunate passing in 2012. In his loss there was a question if the operation would run again.

In an effort to continue what their father started and carry forth his traditions and dreams, Ali and Aidan Meiners have regrouped the ARG team to re-launch the ARG experience in 2014. Tecnica and Blizzard saw this as a great opportunity for both brands to move forward together, taking the elder Meiners’ vision far into the future.

In September of 2013, Tecnica Blizzard USA signed a three-year partnership agreement with ARG. Tecnica Blizzard USA kicked off their relationship with ARG with a launch party in Jackson Hole, Wyoming earlier this month. It was the perfect setting to get the guides dialed in with product for the season and to demo product for the equipment room for ARG clients.

The ARG team thoroughly tested product, including Blizzards new powder ski, the Spur, which will be introduced in the 2014/15 collection, and the Tecnica Cochise ski boot collection with walk-ski capabilities.

Alexandra Meiners, co-owner of Alaska Rendezvous Heli Guides, went on to say, “The Alaska Rendezvous Guides are honored to be in collaboration with Tecnica and Blizzard. We feel the caliber of the Tecnica Blizzard products will exceed the current expectations of big mountain skiing. The collections
offer the guides the performance they need in the Chugach, but also the comfort for spending long days in the field, utilizing the walk mode for waiting on the glaciers or for the helicopter.”

“My dad, Theo, had been skiing in the Cochise Pro 130 and was looking forward to the partnership between ARG and Tecnica / Blizzard. We wish he were here to share in the excitement,” commented Ali.

“Thanks to our new partnership with ARG, we will have the ultimate R & D testing facility to continue the evolution of our Free Mountain collection of skis and boots,” commented Jed Duke, Product Marketing Manager, Tecnica Blizzard USA.

Tecnica Blizzard’s Freeride Team Manager, Frank Shine, was able to enjoy first hand the experience of ARG last spring. “After visiting with Ali, Aidan and the ARG staff at Mile 45 on the Alaskan Highway, I can’t wait to get back up there with some of our athletes. It really is a dream come true for us to have access to such an amazing location to shoot some new stories.”

Alaska Rendezvous Heli Guides offers guided trips on a daily basis from March 8 until April 25, 2014.
