Sunday, 60 male competitors dropped into the AFP World Champs/WSSF slopestyle course on Blackcomb Mountain. After nearly four hours of competition—two heats of 30, two runs each—10 skiers earned a spot in Monday’s semifinal round.
Top of the course amid Sunday’s WSSF slopestyle qualifier
The qualifying criteria was as follows: The top three competitors from each heat advanced, along with the next four highest scores between both heats. Those 10 (11 today, on account of a tie between Vincent Gagnier—last night’s big air champion—and Simon D’Artois) join 20 pre-qualified athletes in tomorrow’s semifinal round.
The action kicks off Monday at 10:45 a.m. on Blackcomb. Following the elimination round, between 1:45 and 3:00, both the men’s and women’s final will be held, with awards to follow at 5:30.
