Spyder ’08-’09

Spyder ’08-’09

Last week, the Spyder Venom team converged on Boulder, CO to get first look at the the Venom ‘08-’09 line from Spyder. Knowing only what they had recommended to the designers and not having seen any actual pieces, they came into the brand new show room apprehensive yet excited to see what they would be wearing this winter. They were not disappointed.

Spyder grew leaps and bounds in terms of their design for the ‘08-’09 season. Departing from their conservative colors and textures, the new line, headed by a new team of designers, is full of colors, innovative details and fresh cuts. Perhaps the most extraordinary piece is CR’s signature jacket. Hand drawings by an artists of CR’s friends and family who helped him through his recovery after his injury were hand etched into a suede fabric on his jacket. CR walked me through the sequence of the drawing from his reoccurring dream while in a coma to the strength and support of his family and friends. The drawing signifies CR’s continuing journey of looking forward from his injury. Maintaining the military look, and CR’s logo, the new kit is a fresh take on CR’s past signature models. The hand drawn version of the suit is not for retail, only a few copies have been produced but the outfit, sans drawing, will be available in two colors.

Josh Bibby was around as well to check out his new gear that he will be sporting in San Francisco this weekend at Icer Air. A wild blue suit with complementing blue stripes and patches will ensure that Bibby will not go unnoticed in AT&T Park.

The little groms, well not so little anymore, Duncan Adams, Grant Savidge, Alex Schlopey and Finn Anderson were all in attendance and were pretty amped on the outfit that glows in the dark. Picture that at night comps. Not a bad looking photo I’m thinking.

The new gear was not the only thing on display. Spyder’s new Venom showroom invited a select few to peep the new space complete with a bar built by Red Bull, plush couches, big screen TVs and bear skin rugs were some of the furnishings in the lounge area.

Spyder snapped a few photos for us, but we didn’t want to ruin the surprise of showing you the whole line. Look for more updates on Spyder and the rest of the industry come the Vegas tradeshow this January.
