Ski it to Believe It: Austria Part 2

The Nike 6.0 ski crew packed their huge ski bags and headed to Austria this last week. Jossi Wells, Sammy Carlson and Simon Dumont made the trip to St. Anton, Austria with Johnny Decesere from Poor Boyz Productions, Flip McCririck and Team Manager, Riley Poor.

The crew was scouring the area in a 45ft tour bus in search of zones that would be worthy of Poor Boyz Productions upcoming film, “Reasons.” The boys were blessed with 35cm of fresh snow before they arrived, and then 10 days of sun followed. The athletes, who are normally competitive skiers, were stoked to get in the backcountry and hit some big jumps.

At the halfway point of the trip the guys took the 6.0 tour bus to Bad Gastien for the Red Bull Play Streets event where a gnarly comp was being held in the streets in front of thousands of fans. Jossi did a unique wall ride that no one else did in the contest, but unfortunately, Sammy twisted his ankle over jumping one of the hits.

With Sammy out for the rest of the trip it was up to Jossi and Simon to find the few remaining jump spots in St. Anton. The boys managed to fit in a few more features and then boarded the bus and cruised back to Zurich, where Jossi headed to Japan for the Nippon Open and the rest of the crew headed back to the States for the North American Open.

“It was a much needed break,” Simon Dumont stated about his vacation from the very busy competitive ski scene.

Jossi went on to win the Nippon Open in Slopestyle, while Simon brought home the win in The North American Open Half-Pipe – further showing how versatile their ski abilities are.
