Here’s the scoop, friends: High Fives Foundation is a Tahoe-based, national 501.c.3 non-profit organization that supports the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing resources and inspiration to those who suffer life-altering injuries. We love High Fives; just last month, the organization donated $34,889.02 to nine awesome, adventurous individuals in need. High Fives’ Ski-a-Thon events are a great way for you to get involved with the charity group. Each Ski-a-Thon generally raises north of $50,000 for the foundation. And last year, the FAT Ski-a-Thon, in particular, raised over $150,000—a record for High Fives.
This time around, High Fives has set a lofty goal of $200,000 for its Sugarbush event. Shredders of all levels are invited to click into a pair of skis or snowboards and take as many runs as possible to support the charity. Participating in the FAT Ski-a-Thon is simple and free of charge. Fundraising is not required, but, rest assured you’ll feel great about helping High Fives reach its aforementioned goal of 200K. For those who do wish to fundraise, teams or individuals raise funds via a nifty event page.
What’s more? Prizes will be dished out all day long; the outfits will undoubtedly be on-point; and you’ll get your leg-burn on.
Official Press Release, High Fives Foundation
Warren, Vermont – On the first Sunday in March, 2017, Sugarbush Resort will host the sixth annual FAT Ski-A-Thon from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. benefitting the High Fives Non-Profit Foundation. The FAT Ski-a-Thon is an all-day fundraiser where participants come from near and far to lap runs on the same chair with friends and family, in order to raise funds for mountain action sports athletes recovering from life-altering injuries. There are no registration fees necessary, but fundraising is recommended. For the first time ever, the event will be held at Lincoln Peak, Sugarbush South.
[This event is presented in part by Vermont North Ski Shop.] “Vermont North Ski Shop is excited to bring the High Fives community together in the Mad River Valley for another successful Ski-A-Thon,” said Jesse Murphy, High Fives Development Director and co-owner of Vermont North Ski Shops. “Every year we see this event grow. This year we have put a lot of legwork in to make sure everyone is included. You won’t want to miss out on this day of feel-good fun.”
