Local skater Levi Huffman, 22, of Wheat Ridge, Colo. is currently in hospital in a critical condition due to a severe head injury. This was incurred in a skateboarding accident on 22 June, while skating on the evening of international Go Skateboarding Day.
A skateboard contest will be held on Saturday, 12 July at Woodward skate park to raise money for Levi in this difficult time. Our hearts and prayers go out to Levi and his family. Let’s band together across our community for this awesome dude who has done so much for the skate scene.
Levi is expecting his first child this winter with fiancée, Robyn Speer. He rides for the Board Cartel skate team, and coaches a number of local kids. Friends and sponsors have teamed together to organize this contest to show support for Levi and raise money to help him and his family.
The jam format skate contest will begin at noon, at Woodward skate park, 14500 West Colfax Avenue, Lakewood, CO. There will be beginner, intermediate and advanced divisions. Entry fee is $10, and all proceeds will go directly to Levi and his family. Prizes have been donated by sponsors including the Board Cartel, Nixon, Oakley and Anon. During the contest there will also be a bake sale and a silent auction featuring art and product from sponsors.
An evening benefit and concert from Denver band Clusterfunk will be hosted from 8pm – 11pm at Levi’s family restaurant, La Piazza Italian Bakery, 4990 Kipling St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Cover charge: $10.
