Residents of Summit County, Colorado woke up to a wonderful sight the morning of September 5th. The high peaks of the area, many towering above 12 and 13,000 feet in elevation, received ample snow last night; enough to count as the first real snowfall of the 2024/25 winter season! Several resorts, including Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, got a glimpse of winter on the upper reaches on their respective mountains. We also saw incredible shots from Winter Park Resort and Copper Mountain.

This is always one of our favorite times of year, as the anticipation builds and you just can’t help but check your closet to make sure your full ski kit is ready to rumble. Hell, we wouldn’t blame you if you grabbed your skis and headed to the garage for a tune. While we can’t all be there in person for the joy of the season’s first snowfall, several talented photographers were on the scene in Colorado to bring the feverish excitement to a screen near you. Take a look at the incredible gallery below. And be warned: these images may cause sweaty palms, a spike in heart rate and an insatiable desire to ski ASAP.
