Roxy Sneak Peek goes off in Utah.

Roxy Sneak Peek goes off in Utah.

When was the last time you saw a group of over 50 women skiing and riding together? Well, if you were at the Canyons last week Tuesday and Wednesday, that is exactly what you would have seen. Roxy invited women from all over the nation out to their home base in Kimball Junction, Utah for two days of on-hill demos, product reviews, fashion shows and all-around female bonding.

The highlight of the line, the new Broomstix. An all-new ski designed by Sarah Burke herself, the Broomstix is the first ski unique to the Roxy brand. No longer is everything a Dynastar or Rossignol ski with a pretty top sheet. Roxy has put some serious R&D into this ski with nice results. Sarah’s ski comes in a 155, 162, 168 and 174 with a sidecut of 122-86-110. The ski is wider than last year’s model making it more versatile as an all-mountain ski. It also has new “Roxy Sweet Spot” inserts that are two pieces of rubber inserted in the tip and tail to provide stability on take offs, dampening on landings and they make for a great swing weight.

Another nice offering is the Shazam. Essentially, Roxy too the Rossignol Women’s Scratch BC and added a killer topsheet. But this is a much needed addition to the Roxy line. A lightweight, versatile ski with bomber construction will be sure to stoke out the girls looking for an all-mountain ripper.

Also new to the line, and a much needed step in the right direction is the new Roxy Pro boot. Made from a plug mold, the stiffness has been dramatically increased and serious women will be stoked to find this boot on shelves next year.

So beyond getting a “Sneak Peek” of the new line, the girls in Utah had a blast on and off the snow. Skiers and snowboarders existed in harmony and shredded all day and partied all night. The highlight of the weekend… a “wigging out” party at Harry O’s in Downtown Park City. Wigs were encouraged and some stepped it up in a serious way. Blonde, pink, mullets and braids were running all over Harry O’s upstairs for the free drinks to the dance floor downstairs and everywhere in between.

A great time was had by all and moving forward, expect great things from Roxy who are intent on listening to their athletes and providing a core product along with a great look.
