Roxy Premieres Labor of Love in Boulder

Roxy Premieres Labor of Love in Boulder

Thursday, the Roxy snow crew descended upon Boulder, which included pro skiers, snowboarders and a slew of industry types, for their world premiere of the film, Labor of Love. Not to throw a regular, come-and-watch-the-movie type of premiere, the gals over at Roxy stepped it up a notch. Signing posters and CDs for fans were pro skiers Sarah Burke and Jess Cumming, pro snowboarders Alexis Waite, Erin Comstock and Amber Stackhouse. Audience members were treated to free scarfs which they could personalize with a plethora of stencils. VIPs were treated to a full on spead of finger foods and bar services while they mingled with pro athletes and industry types.

Once the crowd settled down and the lights fell, the audience was treated to a fast paced, intense ski and snowboard flick, filled with incredbile riding, epic imagery, all the while set to a poppy, hip soundtrack (which was available for free at the premiere). Director and rider Amber Stackhouse and the snow team manager Jessica Dalpiaz were also on hand to sign posters and survey the crowd’s jubiliant reaction. In addition to the large local gathering, pro mens riders and industry types wer ein attendance, showing their support for the Roxy girls. Peter Olenick, Simon Dumont, TJ Schiller and Colby West, to name a few were spotted throughout the night.

And not to kill the buzz after the screening, the girls raffled off and threw out tons of product, including hoodies, goggles, snowboards, and Roxy gift cards, stoking out hordes of Boulderites.

With a banger movie, a great crew and a solid premiere, be sure to check out the trailer and more info about Roxy’s Labor of Love — you won’t be disappointed.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Over the past year, Roxy’s snow athletes have toured the world together, dropping pillows in Japan, snowmobiling into the midnight sun of Sweden and riding their way through the southern hemisphere, not to mention Switzerland, Norway, Canada and the States. From language barriers and red-eye flights to sledding through remote, snow-locked locations, the project has been a true labor of love.

The film’s stars include 2007 X Games gold medalist freeskier Sarah Burke, 2007 Women’s TTR World Champion and X Games gold medalist snowboarder Torah Bright, 2006 Olympic bronze medalist snowboarder Kjersti Buaas and freeskiers Jess Cumming, Mille Windfeldt, Vanessa Coletta, along with snowboarders Tania Detomas , Erin Comstock, Amber Stackhouse and Alexis Waite.

The film was produced and co-directed by Roxy team-rider Amber Stackhouse of Misschief Films (“As If” and “Ro Sham Bo”) along with co-director and cinematographer Per-Hampus Stalhandske.
