It’s not everyday a hip-hop show with the magnitude of Rock The Bells rolls into town. But with a line up that included NAS, Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Method Man, Red Man, Raekwon, Ghostface, Murs, The Pharcyde, The Cool Kids, Immortal Technique, Jay Electronica, The Pack among others decides to play your city, you best be there. So a few select Storm Mountain Employees rolled down to Fiddlers Green near the Tech Center in Denver a few weeks ago to witness the mayhem for ourselves.
The venue set up a special second stage for the event to host as many acts as possible causing crowds to fill both and bounce back and forth between the two. The day warmed up with some smaller acts and steadily built until the whole place was packed for the likes of NAS, Mos Def and Talib Kwali. Orignially, Tribe Called Quest was meant to headline the show, but with one of the members out due to sickness, Guerilla Union flew in Talib Kwali from Switzerland for a guest appearance with Mos Def and a special Blackstar reunion.
Prior to Blackstar, NAS lit it up. For real, he had the whole crowd going the entire set with classics plus stuff from his new album. Pharcyde has one of the best old school sets and were super entertaining. Meth and Red killed it, as per usual. and The Cool Kids had a great showing. Look for them at the Esurance Icer Air in a couple months.
Overall, things went down at Fiddlers and Blackstar left us stoked to live in a city that attracts shows of this magnitude.
