Santa Barbara’s favorite band, Rebelution, sold out Boulder’s infamous Fox Theatre recently, and I had the privilege of getting to photograph the show.
Who is Rebelution you might ask? They’re one of the front runners for grassroots, independent and touring driven music groups representing the Cali-Reggae scene. Originally formed in 2004, members Eric Rachmany (vocals / guitar,) Rory Carey (keyboards,) Wesley Finley (drums,) and Marley D. Williams (bass) met in college, while residing in Isla Vista, a popular beachside community in Santa Barbara.
After finding much success with their first album, Courage To Grow, they’re now on the road in support of their brand spankin’ new sophomore release, Bright Side Of Life, a new personal favorite album of mine.
The show was excellent and like their tour mates Iration, Rebelution gets the crowd involved, keeps everyone moving, and most importantly has fun throughout their entire performance. Bright Side Of Life shouldn’t be hard to find on iTunes, it’s nestled in at #2 Top Albums in the Reggae category, just under Bob Marley’s classic album, Legend.
