Rainshowers at Boulder Premiere

Level 1’s new flick screened to a packed house in downtown Boulder this past Saturday, as 850 screaming fans, indsutryfolk, and athletes celebrated what everyone agrees is the biggest and best Level 1 movie yet. Athletes in attendance, including Wiley Miller, Steele Spence, Travis Redd, Tom Wallisch, Mike Clarke, Matt Philippi, Ahmet Dadali, and Mike Hornbeck autographed thousands of posters. Freeskier’s Digi Dave was on hand to emcee the event, ran the show and held down the stage while DJ Segue spun a variety of hiphop, reggae, and everything in between.

While the Boulder Theater’s House Manager quickly curtailed plans to make it rain $1000 in singles (citing potential danger in the crowd fighting for the cash), the Level 1 Rainmaker, a modified 30hp electric leafblower with a 12-foot barrel, launched T shirts, hats, goggles, glasses, and Jibij Gift Certificates into the audience. After the crowd was sufficiently whipped into a frenzy and the brand new pair of Volkl Wall’s, the Spyder outerwear, Jiberish hoodies, and Spy goggles and glasses were raffled off, the lights dimmed and a series of trailers lead things off. Norwegian upstart Field Productions got things going with a sneak peak at PK Hunder’s segment in their soon-to-be-released feature film, “Magic Moves.” Freeskier followed suite with a teaser for their Road Trip Challenge series, and Blake Kimmel’s Spotlight Project trailer wrapped up the previews. The feature presentation kept the crowd cheering for 54 mins straight, as attendees rallied to show their stoke for the athletes, especially Boulder and Summit County residents Mike Clarke, Adam Delorme, and Tanner Rainville.

With the close of the credits, the party moved a few blocks down Pearl Street to Bacaro, where Sobe Adrenaline Rush + Vodkas and Sobe Jaeger bombs kept the 21+ crowd bouncing until last call. Dynastar skis and Tecnica boots were raffled off to benefit Stand Strong Again, and a “relatively small” shower of one hundred DNA-tagged $1 bills rained down on the crowd.

A Huge thanks to the sponsors that made it happen- Freeskier, Spy,
DNA, Hestra, Spyder, Boulder Freeride, Sweet Protection, and Purl Wax.
