SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—The first-of-its kind Pro Women’s Athlete Career Conference will take place on Sept. 19-20 in San Francisco, where female athletes will gain skills in seeking sponsorship, selecting professional management, and branding and marketing themselves.
SheJumps.org, an “applied for†nonprofit that challenges individuals to take metaphorical and/or literal “jumps†to reach their potential, is partnering with the renown Dr. Kevin Stone of The Stone Clinic to bring female athletes together in order to enhance their individual careers while promoting community.
“I can only imagine what will come from this first time event,†says pro skier and SheJumps Co-Founder Lynsey Dyer. “Women are a powerful group, so our intention is that this conference will not only help the individual to climb the so called ‘ladder,’ but also, instill the idea of community, even to people who might be in direct competition.â€
The FREE two-day event will draw many VIPs in the sports industry as speakers including journalists Alison Overholt and Alyssa Roenigk of ESPN The Magazine, marketing gurus Gordon Wright of Outside magazine and Tim Petrick of K2 Sports, and sports agents Michael Spencer of Ego Sports Management and Susan Izzo of Mosaic Management.
There will be additional talks by Lynsey Dyer; Nikki Stone, Olympic gold medalist in aerials; and downhill mountain biker Marla Streb. The schedule of topics and speakers is available at https://www.stoneclinic.com/data/fe/file/womenconf_811.pdf.
“While there are many seminars on sports injuries or the state of the ski industry, to our knowledge none address career training for top women athletes,†says Dr. Stone, who served as a physician for the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Pro Ski Tour, and the U.S. Olympic Training Center. “Helping them learn to exploit their moment in the sun and enjoy a successful post-podium career is the goal of this conference.â€
