If you’ve ever seen Marcus Caston ski, you won’t have a hard time believing that he jams out to kickass music to get the blood pumpin’ every run. Here, we’ve compiled 10 of the Utah-based shredder’s go-to tunes, and you’d be wise to add them to your own ski playlist as ski season creeps closer and closer.
Three favorite music genres: American Folk, Bluegrass, Punk Rock
Three favorite musicians: The Devil Makes Three, James McMurtry, Jack White
Three least favorite music genres: Anything pop… Pop rock, Pop country, Pop rap… So gross.
Three least favorites musicians: I try not to listen to bad music, I just ignore it. But it does bug the sh#t out of me when my friends listen to it. Like, Beyoncé; does nobody else in the world understand that it’s not good music? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! Ty Dolla $ign, Kenny Chesney… F those guys.
Best concert you’ve ever been to: Two winters ago, I was on a ski trip and we showed up to this small town in Iceland just in time for the Easter Festival. People from all around Iceland come for a two-day, non-stop music festival. The music was great, but just the total randomness and location of the concert stages and event in general made it really special. We snuck into a rave, crowed-surfed to some John Denver in a restaurant, saw a rock show in a church and got introduced to my favorite Icelandic band, Rythmatik. Isafjordur Easter Festival is a must-go.
Worst concert you’ve ever been to: Probably Bon Iver. He was playing a free show at the Galvin Center in downtown Salt Lake City years ago. He sucks and we left early.
