With ten thousand lakes and $8,000 cash to give away, Wild Mountain set the stage for us to host the most crowded skiers’ reunion I’ve ever seen in a condensed space. Over 130 skiers sharing a 200-foot high, 120-foot wide, slope. All ages and skill levels, getting towed up faster than they could ski down.

Monster Energy Drinks stacked on top of natural stoke, sunshine and Ras Jacob’s sound selection made for a powerful vibe.

As the cashier, Eric Iberg handed out money from his right hand while his left was busy maintaining his D.P.H. ratio. I kept track of the action with both eyes moving independently like Alastor Mad-Eye Moody, shouting out who to throw money at. Style got paid, daffies got paid, and if you had B-Dog skis on your feet, you got paid.

We capped the shred portion of the day with an experimental format; one feature, one try and $1,000 for the best trick. Ruthless, as Brandon Hussaak, one of TC’s finest cameramen, put it. Some played it safe, others put all their chips on the table. Tensions were high. In the end, two tricks were rewarded: a 270 on, front swap, pretzel got $300, and a switch 270 on, pop out to switch got the largest chunk of cash.

We ended the day with a gathering inside the cozy chalet of Wild Mountain. A golden dog paw chain was given to the MVD – Most Valuable Dog – for their skiing and overall attitude. The winner was none other than Andrew Furin. Afterward, the world’s largest raffle took place, thanks to our sponsor’s generous contributions.

It couldn’t have been a better day. Thanks to all who came out, especially to Brad Larsen and Cody Rogers at Wild Mountain.
