Downtown Seattle is a hell of a place to host a premiere. The Pacific Northwest has a snow industry scene second to none, there’s a chill in the air and Evo Gear, one of the premier shops in the industry, is here to host pre-parties and athlete signings. The World Premiere of Revolver — the new movie brought to you by Poor Boyz Productions — reaped the benefits of all the Seattle area has to offer last night when they brought their team of athletes, sponsors and production crew to the city.
Evo, located in the trendy Freemont District of Seattle, hosted an athlete signing from 3:00-5:00 where TJ Schiller, Sammy Carlson, Matt Walker, LJ Strenio, Charley Ager, Riley LeBoe and Dane Tudor made a slew of kids happy — and potentially ebay richer — with their sharpie markers. One satisfied customer brought his Freeskier t-shirt and added to his already impressive collection of autographs on the back of the shirt.
After a quick stop at the Holiday Inn, the boys made their way downtown to the King Cat Theater where DJ Hathbanger whomped away on stage while more atheltes showed up, more autographs were signed, and a massive pile of shwag was tossed and raffled. The 2,500 capacity theater was sold out and the crowd was hungry for what they really came for… the movie.
Sammy Carlson opened the flick with impressive backcountry tricks, an impressive montage of all four tens and closed his seggy with what everyone knew was coming… his triple from this summer at Hood. He was followed up by a JP who came back to the pipe for a few shots, some urban and of course fluid big-mountain lines that only JP can accomplish with such style.
Pep, Charley, Walker, Nick Martini, Mike Heniuituk, and others all had impressive showings, but Dane Tudor clearly did work this past season logging the highest screen-time minutes of the entire PBP family. An impressive closing segment by the one and only Simon Dumont wrapped the film to hoots and hollers from the crowd.
Hathbanger and DayWalker pumped out the whomps during the after party and ski season was officially kicked off in the PNW with folks coming out of hibernation from all over the continent to show Johnny Decesare, Tyler Hamlet, Pete Alport, Cody Carter and the entire PBP crew their appreciation for making quality ski movies as long as they have.
