Attention all backcountry enthusiasts! Our fine friends over at Ortovox are taking full responsibility for a very rare software malfunction that causes interim disturbance of the transmission mode in the brand’s 3+ avalanche beacons and have issued a precautionary recall. This recall only applies to 3+ transceivers running software version 2.1. Fortunately, no know accidents have been cause by this error.

This recall formally starts on the May 25 and Ortovox will cover your shipping costs. They will update your beacon’s software to version 2.2 ASAP and send it back your way. Ortovox has done extensive testing on version 2.2 to confidently say the new software will fix the error. If you still happen to be out there taking advantage of the snow that’s left, Ortovox will send you a replacement beacon for you to use in the time being.
