Okemo Opens the SoBe Superpipe

Okemo Opens the SoBe Superpipe

Hot damn, we did it again! Thanks to the hard work of our snowmaking and park/pipe guys, Okemo is opening the FIRST SUPERPIPE on the East Coast for the second year running. The SoBe Superpipe is actually opening today, but the “official” debut is slated for tomorrow, Friday, December 21st. I’ve got a photo shoot scheduled for 7:30 a.m. tomorrow to build the buzz surrounding the opening, so look for photos and video to be posted sometime tomorrow afternoon. Featured athletes will include several local riders from the Okemo Mountain School, as well as some guy named Ross Powers (I’ve heard rumors that he’s a pretty good rider!).

Unless you’ve been residing under a massive rock these past few months, you already know the East Coast is experiencing the best early season conditions we’ve seen in years. Okemo has taken full advantage of the weather – we’ve got the Nor’Easter Super Park open, we still have features on Sapphire, and we just recently opened our beginner park, Hot Dog Hill. Add the SoBe Superpipe tomorrow, the Dew Zone directly adjacent to it a day or two later, and all of a sudden we’ve got 90% of our terrain parks open! Oh, we’ve also got bumps, trees (both marked and unmarked – keep your eyes open boys and girls!), groomers, and a partridge in a pear tree. That’s right, we’ve got it all right now…what the heck are you waiting for?!
