The first winter storm dropped significant amounts across the west

From the Canadian Rockies to Montana, Utah and Colorado, skiers are rejoicing and even getting some October turns in after the first major storm of the season delivered more than just a dusting. Banff recorded over nine inches while Big Sky and Steamboat received 12 inches and the Wasatch range in Utah dropped over two feet. It’s early, but it’s officially on!

Arapahoe Basin is officially open for the season

A-Basin turned on the High Noon lift on Sunday, October 23, officially kicking off the 2022-23 season at The Legend. Skiers were stoked and Mother Nature delivered for a snowy opening day.

Midwest skiers are getting early season turns in, too

While Arapahoe Basin is the first ski area to open in the west, midwesterners actually get to claim that they are the first to get on the slopes this season. Andes Towers Hills and Trollhaugen are officially open for the season.

A new ski brand is coming out of Switzerland in collaboration with Laurent De Martin

There is still a lot of mystery surrounding Simply. Recreation Club, the new Swiss ski brand that is set to launch this fall. Gender free and sustainably-focused, these skis, with Laurent De Martin involved, are meant to be used as tools to inspire your ride. Keep your eyes peeled for the official drop.

Dane Tudor, Tonje Kvivik win Standout Skier of the Year at iF3

The iF3 film festival kicked off in Whistler this week, the coveted awards were handed out and the Standout Skiers of the Year were crowned. Tonje Kvivik walked away with the honor for her segment in Matchstick Production’s ‘Anywhere From Here’ and Dane Tudor for his segment in Blank Collective’s ‘Feel Real.’ This is Tudor’s second time winning the award, the first being 13 years ago in 2009.
