Mt. Baker to open for the 2013/14 season on Thursday, November 21

Washington’s Mt. Baker Ski Area, home to the most average annual snowfall of any resort in North America, is set to open its slopes to the public on November 21 at 9:00 a.m. The ski area has a solid 43 inch base at the upper elevations, with the mid-mountain base totaling 37 inches. The White Salmon and Heather Meadows base areas will be open, and a minimum of seven lifts will be running. Lift ticket prices will be discounted for Thursday and Friday. Mt. Baker Ski Area will begin 7-day-a-week operation Thursday November 21st at 9:00 a.m.

We are kicking off the season with over 43 inches of snow at the upper elevations of the ski area and 37 inches of base mid-mountain. We will be operating BOTH THE WHITE SALMON AND HEATHER MEADOWS BASE AREAS with at least 7 chair lifts and MAIN RUNS ONLY open. Lift ticket rates will be discounted Thursday and Friday.

Forecasts are looking good for the opening, with cold tempeartures expected Thursday then moderating temperatures and clearing expected through the weekend. So wax up your skis and boards, put the snow tires on, and get ready to head to the mountains!
